Kathleen Hall
In reading this article I have been learning to combine close reading and inference skills to analyse text to learn more about the qualities of people known as heroes or leaders.
====================Kathleen Hall====================
Kathleen Hall was a New Zealand missionary-nurse. At first, she left her home in New Zealand in 1923 and arrived in China, she was known as a “Barefoot Doctor” for walking for the neighbours to help and care for the sick and she was a Christian Missionary-Nurse, she was helped by the local people to build a small clinic in Song Family Village for the sick. There’s a China invasion, Doctor Bethune told her to buy medical supplies from Beijing to Hebei Mountains for the Chinese army, she stole many medical supplies and gave most of it for the Chinese army, when they discovered her secret, they arrived at the Song Family Village, burned down the clinic, placed down under house arrest and put her on a ship to be returned to New Zealand but she jumped on the ship and joined the Chinese red cross and continue to work for the people she cared about. She is memorized with a tall, white marble statue of a nurse, her medical bag under her arm and her faithful dog on her side and she was unveiled in 1996. She is helpful and caring, you can see these in her actions, she built a small clinic at the Song Family Village with the local people and helped the people who are sick. She is not well known in New Zealand but she is a hero and the one whom the Chinese have not forgotten.
